Helsinki Töölönlahti Park International
Competition
Arrival in the city of Helsinki becomes an experience,
so does traversing the new park itself. The elements of the landscape
gain force in sequence: rock, water, field, woods. Through out of
the birchwoods, one encounters a wide field where lines of the ground
orient our movements and thoughts toward actuality and history of
the Helsinki landscape. City horizon is gathered into the park.
Perspectives which give rhythm to the field look forward to the
wintertime, when the shore disappears and its dimension extends.
The field, empty and simple as pure sculpture, is open to new inventions
and interventions by the city dwellers.
