Green Chapel
A proposal of a green chapel for a private clinic in
Rome. The idea is to utilize a section of the front yard of the
clinic as a space for resting, contemplating and praying, an enclosed
quiet garden.
The chapel will be composed of fundamental garden elements:
sky, green walls, gravel ground, natural light and existing pine
trees. At the innermost of the chapel is a 'rose window', a hole
in the green wall covered with rose. This is an interpretation of
a rose window of a church: a means of introducing natural light
to illuminate the inner self of each person. Beyond the rose window
is an open sky-horizon, a witness of both universality (sky, light
and air) and particularity (landscape of Monti Lucretini toward
Tivoli).
